bigbadshenanigan:

Sometimes… Sometimes my net disconnects at really unfortunate moments. The moment above is during a Twilight Arbor run.

I took too long on this and forgot who the fourth party member was (I am sorry!) so I threw in Metz because his life needs more danger and Shanmughan.

In the meantime, hello new followers! Send me asks if you would like drawn responses and feel free to check out my non-gw2-related art blog

REMEMBER THAT TIME KINS DISCONNECTED AND CHARGED INTO A BUNCH OF ELITE WURMS AND WE ALL FOLLOWED AUTOPILOT-CHARR BECAUSE I FUCKIN DO

if it wasn’t obvious from the photoset: literally the entire reason i only make sylvari is because i like playing with color palettes

Did you base any of your characters on actual flowers / plants in real life? Or just kind of had something in mind when you made them?

a couple of em, yeah!!

casanova and jack were the two actually purposely based off plants - as i was making casanova i was already planning on giving her the fervid censer (‘cause i bought it and no one else was fuckin wearing it) and fortunately for me there was actually a flower in that color called the casanova rose. it’s cheesy but so is she so i win.

jack was obviously based off pumpkins / jack-o-lanterns as a fire elementalist. she’s not scary enough to really fit the halloween theme well, but she does have an affinity for creepy stuff thanks to rott, and likes spooking people and playing light pranks.

and of course midas was inspired by the story of King Midas, based off her overwhelming obsession and how she’d trade in just about anything that isn’t gold for more gold. i threw in dark purple because she’s a sneaky thief and also because i like saints row shut up.

as i was designing dandy i challenged myself to make at LEAST ONE FUCKING CHARACTER THAT’S PREDOMINANTLY COOL COLORED since even all my other cool color based characters use warm colors as a secondary. since she’s a medium armor class i went with high contrast shades of blue to take advantage of how the cultural pants glow because it looks SO COOL.

the rest didn’t have any specific inspirations in mind, although i did choose their color scheme with their classes and attacks in mind, as well as what colors look good on what types of armor - dark rich reds and greens for necro, pink for mesmer, light blue for guardian, and bright high contrast warm colors for warrior.
